Hanks said he had been living with high levels of blood sugar for years and that now his levels were high enough to meet the criteria for diabetes.

Hanks, who today is 57, has starred in films that forced him to win or lose a lot of weight, which may have played an important role in the development of diabetes, according to CBS News.

"In excessive weight gains and losses , the balance of the body is completely nullified . This may predispose to type 2 diabetes in the future, " said collaborator verbatim CBS news , Dr. Holly Phillips .

Hanks gained 14 kilos for his role in " League of Their Own " in 1992 and lost 25 kilos for his role in " Cast Away " in 2000 .

However, a 2011 study conducted in mice suggests that large weight gain or loss , diets also known as " yo-yo" does not affect the risk of diabetes. Mice experienced high levels of blood sugar when gained weight , but health recovered as they lost .
