From its laboratories, specialists from the Technical University of Valencia have designed a virtual board - large-format multitouch tables - that allow multiple users to interact and play simultaneously on the same surface, and specific software to evaluate the status of the elderly and their evolution during rehabilitation.

For validation of the project, researchers at the UPV have worked with three nursing homes in Valencia.

Mariano Alcaniz, one of the leaders of the project, explained the purpose of the investigation: "Through a series of games get cognitive value to the user, in this case the old man can know what their deficit, if it's attention, memory , spatial or temporal orientation ".

Virtual panels contain different images chosen and configured by older people themselves. Thus, users can build their own game, by attaching images related to your life story.

"This allows them to improve cognitive skills involved in the game, share experiences, feelings and create new social networks," he highlighted.
